And The Golden Globe For Best Dressed....

Golden Globes. None of the images in the post are mine.
As we glide gently into 2013, eased in to this new year, gone are those early days where one would put 2012 at the end of the date. We forget that all those entertainers: actors and singers, who kept our boredom at bay last year, now have to be thrust into the public eye so soon after the "turkey babies" of Christmas and those pounding headaches of New Year. Pushing and squeezing or just effortlessly pouring their svelte, enviable bodies into couture or off the runway looks to not only look/feel great for themselves but to also keep an audience of fashion followers drooling with covetousness and admiration. All of which i am talking (typing) about, refers to The Annual Golden Globes Ceremony of  2013.
There was a key trend on the Golden Globe carpet which for spring summer is not that ground breaking- yes, i did just loosely paraphrase Meryl Streep in "The Devil Wears Prada". FLORALS. Out of all of the outfits which i selected for this post, the florals are an outright winner for me, they are enchanting, fresh and charming. i think the pastel chalk cool tones rather than warming tones are the secret to the floral domination and success on the carpet.

Emily Blunt in Michael Kors.  Lucy Liu in Carolina Herrera.
There was two very different yet equally shimmering pearl and crystal dresses that graced the carpet. Both these dresses are heavily embellished, surprisingly the garments remain classic and understated not gaudy or too extravagant in any way. The heavily muted, fleshy tones are what i think made these dresses really strong ensembles, to stand out against the norm of a red carpet dress.

As well as beautiful gowns and dresses there were also beautiful surprises at The Golden Globes, with concern to what the starlets where wearing; a few real image shakers appeared. Creating alot of attention in sultry dark colours, these alluring, sexily designed gowns really stunned and shook up the opinion of image and who these entertainers are. One looking more provocative and the other more grown...

Now there where many more sumptuous dresses that waltzed down the carpet but these just happened to be my ultimate favourites from the night. Though it would not be a review of The Golden Globes Ceremony if there was not a dress.. or two that didn't quite please me. These floor length wonders aren't bad garments, it the issue of flattery that arises. Kristen Bell is pregnant and petite + floor lenght, empire line, high neck = a frumpy look for a time when she should be glowing and emphasising the baby bump. Jessica Chastain, the hair seems lack luster and the only issue with the dress is how it drapes and hangs into the waistline causing a traumatic look of a drooping bosom.

I wasn't overwhelmingly impressed however, if you compare the calibre, sheer style icon status of some of the stars to what they wore; a lot of the night was celebrities playing safe as to not get put on the worst dressed list. The mediocre approach to their wardrobe left me feeling deflated, no huge flurry of greats and no abundance of shockers. Nether less the talent both on the labels and wearing it put on a superb feast for the eyes and have churned out some great accomplishments and achievements in their careers, lets hope it keeps getting better and all creative industries carry on to thrive and co-exist with the beauty it really possesses. Next year, or at the next big ceremony i hope to see bigger, better things, explosions of fashionable greed, lust and desire.
