Heohwan Simulation Hyper Hyper invitaion.

As London Fashion Week has been in full swing and is now sadly beginning to now draw to a close, so heres a look at what kept me busy.

I attended the Heohwan Simulation "Hyper Hyper" Critique Collection. The collection drew inspiration from Thomas Ruff's double exposure photography as well as E.P Thomson's literature; The Making of English Working Class.

The collection featured soft lucid silhouettes, garments flowed beautifully as the models drifted down the catwalk. The colour palette was minimal featuring monochromatic and muted tones with the occasional burst of citrus yellow, fresh blues and greens incorporated into exciting prints using innovative materials and sporadic dustings of understated embellishment

UNTITLED & CO

Untitled & Co, the Toronto based fashion brand has been creating a storm of attention over my Instagram newsfeed of recent and rightly so. The brand has only just last month celebrated it's first birthday, the fragility of this new brand is the only feature of this company which is delicate.

The brand has a strong aesthetic which is reinforced throughout every piece of clothing/accessory. Untitled & Co demands excitement and is worthy of praise and truthful credit. T-shirts, muscles tees and crew neck jumpers are what makes up the bulk of stock, the small range of products does not transfer to the market as weak because of Untitled & Co's young nature but instead reads as selective and exclusive.

Selling printed pieces from my all time favourite film- Clueless (take a look at an old Clueless inspired post!) with crass and trucker mouth words emblazoned across the front makes Untitled & Co an instantly coveted brand for me. Contrast Clueless tops with "YOU CAN'T SIT WITH US" printed across with an image of Disney's Cinderella and her Prince Charming stating "CAN'T MAKE A HO A HOUSEWIFE" you begin to understand the fabulous identity of this rising brand.

If I have caught your interest in Untitled & Co go check them out on their site.

Style Icon #9

Chloe Norgaard by Terry Richardson

As summer has drawn to an end (does anyone in the UK actually remember what fleeting glimpse of summer we did have?!) and inevitably so is this year; I thought what better way to bring closure to a summer of festivals, beating sunshine and pouring rain than to celebrate and pay homage to undoubtedly the most colourful and one of the most style forward models that has burst into the fashion industry- Chloe Norgaard

The American DJ turned model came into the fashion scene with an explosion, a firework of colours and with a bohemian style both stylistically and in her everyday life. Norgaard's look is what could have been regarded as tasteless with an complete disregard for complimentary colours, prints and style but it in fact she seemed be at the epicentre of the aesthetic which everyone craved as soon as those bleak winter months left. Norgaard's recklessness in relation to hair- no matter what the season or latest fashion, one thing is certain her locks will posses their trademark mermaid quality, lilac, chartreuse, magenta and electric blue. One could suggest that with out the tantalisingly colourful morsel that is Ms Norgaard our summer of hedonistic bohemia wouldn't have nearly reached the fashion boundaries with out her.

We must not forget it's her face, the one that looks like its been carved by and angel paired with her slender model body that is where the focus currently is- modelling for big named fashion houses is currently her game. Chloe Norgaard causing a sensation and fuelling previously un-thought of trends thats just a bi-product of utterly captivating self.

Red- Behind The Scenes

Detail of Lucy Lee garment

Firstly sorry for my lack of postage but this has been due to an unprecedented amount of university projectand work. For the next couple of weeks the posts may be more erratic than i hope for but fingers-crossed there will be more than what i managed last work- none!

Moving on to brighter things, at the end of last week I was asked to partake in amazing shoot as Creative Director. It was a studio shoot at Lime Grove (a LCF campus) for graduate fashion designer Lucy Lee with the talented Jessica Wright once again as photographer- us trio of ladies know how to work and bring home the goods! Along with Lee, Wright and myself we were accompanied by a great hair and make up artist Bridie Taylor and the slick Jessie Lawrence as our model.

Lucy Lee attending to a garment that wouldn't play nice!

Being a studio shoot it was much different from the last shoot we all worked together on; no blue legs, no cold damp derelict building and no battling with the brambles that have tangled and knotted the once beautiful grounds. The shoot was to help Lee create something breathtaking images for her graduate collection, to put displayed at the graduate exhibition, held both in Brighton and London.

Jessica Wright capturing Jessie Lawrence in action.

The RED Collection was inspired by cathedrals, their architecture, their colour palettes and what this symbolises. The shoot was controlled by lots of jagged shaped movements and poses to compliment the intricate and strong shapes of the garments but whilst still juxtaposing the feminine nature of the organza and leather.

One of my favourite snaps!

Without giving too much away by words or by imagery i'm offering you a sneak peak- to those who follow any of us on Instagram, i am afraid i am offering nothing new. For that you will have to wait for the exhibition.

Lilesden House x Lucy Lee

Photography by Jessica Wright, Garments By Lucy Lee

As you will know- if you've been following my blog, that at the beginning of April i worked on a shoot as Creative Director for fashion designer Lucy Lee, the team was rounded off with photographer Jessica Wright, hair and make up artist Charlotte Hayles and model Ciara Sheppard. Great women only band or what?!!?
I've just received some great images through from Wright. Though the full collection of images have yet to complete their journey through Photoshop and the final edit is still waiting to be made and confirmed by Lee; I would just like to share with you all a handful of my favourite shots which i have seen so far..

Hold tight for the final edit, but if you want to tease yourself even more with this shoot head over to Jessica Wright's Tumblr. Final photo's coming soon!

Dolce & Gabbana

My favourite ad campaigns of the last two season has to be Dolce & Gabbana
The two designers who have stepped behind the camera lens taking charge of not only the designing of the garments but the final portrayal, where their vision meets with the consumer via glossy pages or illuminating screens. The photographs give that ability of almost feeling the heat of that ochre Italian sun beaming down upon you, with the waves of the ocean licking against your skin. Hearing children's laughter at the sea edge and silly elderly family quarrels irritating at your ears. Their ability (along with those gorgeous olive complexioned and dark featured models) to portray that easy Italian, luxurious, shabby chic- never too shabby though! family lifestyle throughout. All of the campaign shots look and feel so beautifully effortless. The campaign oozes love, family and of course Italian beauty and style not just the Italian way but the Dolce & Gabbana way.

Brian Lichtenberg

Slogan sweatshirts have dominated the past the current seasons and it looks to continue to demand the spotlight for another season to come. Fashion has taken the un-fashionable sweatshirt, only worn for work outs, to sweat through profusely like Sylvester Stallone in all the Rocky films. Whether the fashion industry has awakened itself to the actuality that no one wants to be a size zero, that every man woman and their overly pampered pooch is actively taking on a healthy approach to life. Could this be the reason for the sudden explosion and highly popular sport luxe and sport chic trends that saw every fashionista swapping their Louboutin's for their Nike Free Runs- normative footwear for the gym not for the cobbles of Somerset House. Whatever the reason we must be thankful that for once a season  indulged us in comfort and our go to 'fat day' clothes became a uniform for an army of fashion militants. It became clear that to stay chic and not slobby in a sweatshirt Brian Lichtenberg was your man.

Brian Lichtenberg is an L.A. based womenswear designer who incorporates his notoriously cheeky humour into his designs using a clever, tongue in cheek play on words. Switching up established brand logos to create an entirely new look that still relates to both the original design and Lichtenberg's own aesthetic at the same time. Lichtenberg's designs are youthful and modern, taking the sweatshirt into a paradigm where it has not been previously placed. His designs were helped to gain global recognition by celebrities and models alike, whether it be Rihanna the princess of all things provocative rocking a CUNTIE beanie or the 'it' model of the moment (it seems to be a very long moment!) Cara Delevigne in a BUCCI muscle vest.

Brian Lichtenberg remains as 'in' fashion as he is outrageous. Intoxicating you with his fresh, young and playfully amusing designs. When and if this trend for sweatshirts does begin to falter and once again we move back into that wardrobe of pure discomfort and pain, which shall undoubtedly happen at some point in the near future. You can be positive that the Brain Lichtenberg brand will still be around and stronger than ever, most likely still causing controversy.
