| In Vogue by Norberto Angeletti and Alberto Oliva |
Another book has now captured my attention, my face is firmly planted within the large glossy pages incased by a hardback, covered in glamourous black and white photography. Just one month after i was fixated and lost within the informative and deeply inspiring pages of
Katie Baron's
'Stylists- New Fashion Visionaries', a spectacular read which i am still currently working my way through. The book which now captivates me so and will do for sometime judging by the sheer size of this beast is
'In Vogue'.

Norberto Angeletti and
Alberto Oliva have created and complied this four hundred and forty-four page wonder, it is the first book depicting the development as
Vogue as a publication and brand. It features commentaries from prestigious figures who have played a greatly important part in the history and the evolution of the most notorious, dominant and influential
fashion publication in the modern world,
Vogue. This book beautifully demonstrates the starting point of
Vogue (1909) all the way to the
Vogue that society knows and recognises now. '
In Vogue' provides the reader with an educational and informed chronological structure to understand the inner workings and makings of the
Conde Nast fashion bible by placing clearly defined chapters throughout the book for example:

Vogue covers
illustrations/fine art/photographs.- Transformation of
font and
logo.- The use of
models and
celebrities within the pages and featured on the cover.-
Fashion photographers.- Photshoot locations.-
Editors/columnists/contributors.-
Fashion journalism and
editorials.

It's not just the content of this book in terms of text which charms the reader, even though the vast amount of information that gets delivered is fascinating and the
composition of the text is what makes for an
illuminating read. But it is the addition of
imagery coupled with the text or used to break the text up that creates an
exciting book; from the illustrated original copies of the first covers of
Vogue to the development of
fashion photography,
supermodels gracing the cover or the delectable
editorials, iconic and ground breaking
imagery which are embraced by the
fashion blooded arms of Vogue.
