Leandra Medine (Not my own image.)
If you know what the title of this blog means, snaps to you, if you know what the title means and who is in the introductory image double snaps; and well if you do not.. shame. As 2013 has arrived, (YES IT'S HERE + THE WORLD DIDN'T END!!) why not broaden your fashion horizons, adapt a new style icon for this year. Even if its only during January before you move on to the next, cooler, edgier, new sweet thing.
Leandra Medine AKA The Man Repeller. This amazing woman who created the blog that all bloggers are treating as a place of worship has taken America by storm, the internet and the hearts of fashion lovers. However it still feels like she is yet to crack Great Britain, during the past year i have yet to see any work of any great substance featuring her upon our English soil. Except for a little spread in ASOS's very own little magazine, where she offered her opinion on how to wear certain pieces of clothing. Yet there is no real indepth interview skills or interaction between Medine or ASOS throughout this piece. There are many interviews, blogs and vlogs floating around that capture The Man Repeller, yet few go in depth and ask question which have yet to be answered. To those concerned with fashion this does not offer up any new juicy and engaging information. this may just be personal, to me as a student i'm still stuck in that phase where i want to soak up as much info and knowledge as possible. hearing this from the correct person of interest, in this post it would be Leandra Medine. So what i really really want from 2013 is for some new, exciting fashion journalism to arrive.
I want 2013 to be the year we embrace Leandra Medine and Man Repelling. As well as favouring our more edgy stars like, Iggy Azalea, Mia Goth, Kelly Osbourne and the Olsens etc, lets hold onto and be inspired by The Man Repellers put together yet eclectic style full of chicness and little quirks. Medine's style is very different from the style scenes here in Great Britain. Yes we have such diversities that one style doesn't really out shine the others. but i think its obvious street style is a key focal point for many. Now even though Medine does get snapped in street style and it is clear some of her looks are influenced by street style it is not a factor which features in the look of the overall outcome. To me it looks like the way in which Medine dresses is an evolutionary continuation of modern street style. And i think we would all do well to take note.
