Reading, Fashionably Late

My Favourite read so far of 2013!
Currently i've been finding myself awake into the late/early hours of the night (which ever way you wish to phrase it). That particular time when the sky is it'd deepest blue black and even the foxes of the urban suburbs have gone to sleep. It is not insomnia what troubles me, it's a book. Now it has to take something worth my while for me to become so engrossed in reading, something of my interest, a thing that forces itself to be noticed and for me to realise this is what's been missing from my life. (I am no 50 Shades of Grey girl, eurgh too much hype). In fact its a read which is not only beautifully constructed but also a vital, beneficial read to myself and it additionally aids itself to my current studies. Stylists, New Fashion Visionaries by Katie Baron.
This large book focuses on dominant and influential creatives that are quietly but oh so clearly orchestrating and commanding vast areas within the fashion industry. Starting with an enriching foreword from the outstanding Nick Knight. The book moves forward to other greats with a light, short and truthful biography; the story of their careers is steadily woven in, until the reader reaches the point of having to face all of these magnificent feats each creative has been part of or built during their careers. Quotations from these fashion conscious are kept short and punchy but the honesty and passion these visionaries have is transcending. Along side these few pages of text are large images/photographs illustrating each of the featured persons work, it gives an insight into how truly diverse each individual is and how individual fashion can be. - That sounded soo cliche!
This book is such a mind blowingly inspirational read, it made me feel very hungry for my career. Its given me a hunger which i haven't felt in a little while, probably it got lost in mundane present wrapping over the Christmas period. However with this book- ironically a gift! Its has given me an injection of enthusiasm and excitement; preparing me for my next, very full on, term of university and fuelling all of my ambitions up again.
If you ever need a surge of empowerment, an insight into how fashion stylists work in all there various forms or if you just want an frank, genuine read about the industry...this is the one!
